Crowning Glory Earwarmer

I'm thrilled to officially introduce the "Crowning Glory Earwarmer" Crochet Pattern!

I originally designed this pattern in 2013 at the request of my daughters, and it has been a popular cold-weather wardrobe staple ever since!

In fact ... my Little Miss Bee is featured wearing the Crowning Glory in the photo above at 5 years of age -- and here she is below wearing the original Crowning Glory in 2013 at 1 year old!

This pattern is incredibly easy to work up, and using a lofty yarn it creates a plush and warm cover for the wearers ears on those cold-weather days.

Once you've created it please consider sharing your finished photos with us!

Madison Headband

If you are looking for a super simple headband to whip up with some left over yarn, this pattern is perfect!

I've been making the Madison Headband for years now, and it has faithfully been my best selling finished product. Its open-ended design leaves room for all kinds of creative embellishment and flare.

While the pattern is written to fit teen to adult, it is incredibly easy to adjust the size to fit any head - all you need to do is adjust the number of repeats you do in between your increase and decrease rows.

I hope you enjoy!

It's important to note that the pattern itself is for the headband only!
The flower embellishments I've used are patterns found elsewhere, on the internet. I've searched for them to link to here, but I have been unsuccessful in finding them as of yet. When I do find them I will be sure to add their links here.

Pine Ridge Messy Bun or Ponytail Hat

Messy Bun and Ponytail Hats are trending right now in the crochet world, which I am sure you have noticed.

I am a curious individual, so naturally I went onto Etsy to see just how popular the finished hats are.
The stats I saw were mind-blowing! I could hardly believe my eyes.

In one shop, the woman had sold nearly 300 Messy Bun hats in just over a week.
That's a lot of freakin' hats yo!
Quick math - 300 x $27 = $8,100 !!!

Now, we all know this woman now has her work cut out for her because these were made-to-order. But ... WOW!!!

Like many of my crocheting friends, I've been asked to make a few Messy Bun hats, so naturally I came up with my own design that uses a stitch pattern I love to create some texture and warmth for the wearer.

Introducing ............. the Pine Ridge Messy Bun or Ponytail Hat!

Ninja Lovey FREE PATTERN

What is popular among baby-gift-givers right now?

The "Lovey" !

You can find all sorts of them around now!
A Tardis, a Princess, Totoro, Minions and even the Lorax
Anything you can imagine, people are making into a Lovey!

The general idea of them is quite simple.
You take a small plush toy/figure and you add a small snuggle sized blanket to it.
Introducing .......

The Ninja Lovey!

Once again, inspired by a custom order request, I've created some crochet goodness I can hardly wait to share with you!
I apologize in advance for the roughness of this pattern ... my children have given up naps ! *yawn*

If you have any questions as you are working it PLEASE ask! I will be happy to help out if I can.

In order to make this pattern you will need to have a basic level of crochet knowledge.
You will be using the following techniques;

MR - magic ring (if you don't know how to do this, there are many great tutorials on YouTube)
CH - chain
SLST - slip stitch
SC - single crochet
SCinc - single crochet increase (single crochet 2 in one space)
INVdec - invisible decrease an awesome tutorial for this can be found here
DC - double crochet

Pattern Notes
At the end of each round you will see a number in brackets { } this is the total stitch count for that round.

The Ninja head is worked in the round. Do NOT join after each round. Using a stitch marker will help you to keep track of your rounds.

For the blanket part of this project, you can customize to your desires. You can continue working in the "Granny" pattern for as long as you would like! I have done mine for a total of 9 rounds, to make it light and easy for a small tot to snuggle. However if you are making it for a larger child, you may want to continue making it larger.

Materials Needed
Worsted Weight Yarn (black, white and yellow)
E/4 (3.50mm) Hook
H/8 (5mm) Hook
Stuffing material - I used recycled polyester fill
Stitch Marker
Yarn Needle

Instructions

Ninja Head
using E/4 hook and black yarn
  1. MR, CH1, SC 10x into ring. Pull tight to close. {10sc}
  2. SCinc around {20sc}
  3. *SCinc, SC*, repeat from *to* around {30sc}
  4. SC in each stitch around {30sc}
  5. repeat Round 4
  6. repeat Round 4
  7. repeat Round 4
  8. repeat Round 4
  9. repeat Round 4
  10. repeat Round 4
  11. repeat Round 4
  12. repeat Round 4
  13. repeat Round 4
  14. repeat Round 4
  15. *INVdec, SC* repeat from *to* around {20sc} stuff lightly
  16. INVdec around {10sc} stuff more firmly
  17. INVdec to close.
Fasten off leaving tail to sew shut.

Lovey
using H/8 hook and black yarn
attach your yarn to the bottom of the Ninja Head - at the 16th Round.
  1. CH3, SLST to join about 1cm to the left of where you attached your yarn. CH3, SLST about 1cm to the left. again. Continue doing this (8x total) to create an octagon of CH3 loops on the bottom of the head. Join with SLST to first loop created.
  2. CH2, (DC3x, CH1, DC3x) in the first loop ~corner made~ , DC3x in the next loop, (DC3x, CH1, DC3x) in the next loop, DC3x in the next loop, (DC3x, CH1, DC3x) in the next loop, DC3x in the next loop, (DC3x, CH1, DC3x) in the next loop, DC3x in the next loop - join with SLST into beginning DC
Continue to make a Granny Square of sorts by working (DC3x, CH1, DC3x) into each CH1 corner space, and DC3x into each space between.

Does that make sense?
I've been told this isn't a "real" Granny Square, but to be quite honest ... I don't care! It works for what I need! Hahaha

Ok.
After you have worked the blanket part to your liking, attach the yellow yarn (or continue using black if you prefer) and SC around the entire edge of the blanket, placing 3SC in each corner.
Join. Fasten off, and weave in ends.

Ninja Face
using E/4 hook and white yarn

CH9, SC in 2nd CH from hook, and each one across, place 3SC in the last CH and turn so you are working in the remaining CH loop, SC in each ST across placing 2SC in the last loop. SLST to join.
Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing to the head.

Position head. I placed mine just below the 6th Round.
Using your yarn needle, sew into place.

Using black yarn and your yarn needle, make two small straight stitches to create the eyes.

Ninja Star
For the Ninja Star I used this pattern HERE

When you've finished the star, sew into place on one of the front corners.
Weave in your ends, and there you have it!

Ninja!

Spectacles Case ~ FREE PATTERN

I've had a few requests to make a case for regular glasses and sunglasses.

I am sure there are plenty of different patterns out there on the world-wide-web ... but I had something specific in mind and went to work to make it happen.

Super simple! Super adaptable!

Here it is;

Spectacles Case

Materials
Worsted Weight (#4) Yarn ~ I used scraps of 100% Cotton
H/8 (5mm) Hook
Yarn Needle - to weave in those pesky tails
Button

Optional Materials
Coordinating Fabric - felt or something soft, keeping the lenses in mind
Sewing Needle
Coordinating Thread

Abbreviations
ST = stitch      SLST = slip stitch      CH = chain      SC = Single Crochet

Pattern Notes
* This pattern is worked in the round - with right side facing you
* You will be joining with a SLST at the end of each round
* You will change your working colour after EACH row AND you will carry each colour up on the inside of your work - DO NOT FASTEN OFF UNTIL END

I used 4 different colours here - I think it would look really fun with each row as a different colour!

Instructions

1 - colour 1 - Chain 50 - join with SLST to beginning CH to form circle. Careful not to twist your CH
2 - colour 1 - CH1, SC in each CH space around {50 SC} (join, change colour)
3 - colour 2 - CH1, SC, *CH1, skip 1 st, SC in next st* repeat from *to* around. Join with SLST to beginning SC, changing colour
4 - colour 1 - repeat Round 3
5 - colour 3 - repeat Round 3
6 - colour 1 - repeat Round 3
7 - colour 4 - repeat Round 3
8 - colour 1 - repeat Round 3
9 - colour 2 - repeat Round 3
10 - colour 1 - repeat Round 3
11 - colour 3 - repeat Round 3
12 - colour 1 - repeat Round 3
13 - colour 4 - repeat Round 3
14 - colour 1 - CH1, SC, *CH1, skip 1 st, SC in next st* repeat from *to* around. Join with SLST to beginning SC
~ place your seam (joining point) on the side of your work ~
15 - colour 1 - CH1, SC, *CH1, skip 1 st, SC in next st* repeat from *to* until you reach the middle point, chain 8 (or more depending on your button size), repeat from *to* around to end. Join with SLST to beginning SC

Position your button on the opposite side, making sure the loop will fit over snug, but not too snug. Sew into place.
Turn inside out ~ SLST bottom closed ~ Fasten off and weave in all ends
Turn it right side out, and there you have it!
A super-stylin' spectacles case!

OPTIONAL
You can take a piece of fabric, measure it to fit inside, and hand-sew it into place.

This pattern is extremely adjustable. Just chain an even number of stitches, and make it the appropriate size of what you want in it!
For example, your smart phone, tablet or even your laptop!
